How about instead of taxes or less spending the senate and congress take a cut in pay for letting this get this messed up in the first place!
Agreed. 100%! Nobody in public office should be making even anything remotely close to $100,000 a year. (Especially when the economy is in the crapper. Plus, if millions of citizens can live on salaries around $25,000/year or less .... so can they)
While they are at it, CEO's and others in upper management in companies dont need $10 Million/year or more salaries either! (Unless it is a company they personally built from the ground up)

(Oh Lord now I'm agreeing with Maniac as well!?!?! I need to get my meds changed or something)
I think your right there though when I said something similar to my more than republican boss she pointed out that what I was saying was more communist than socialist.
Personally, if I was one of these multi-millionaire/multi-billionaires like Bill Gates or Warren Buffet, I would spend my day driving around all across the country and find families that live in poverty and I would go directly to them. I'd ask them how much debt they had .... I'd then go the bank with them and immediately pay off all of their debt for them, then I'd cut them a check for $50,000 and the only thing I'd say is "use it wisely, because I wont return".

Well my parents grew up in a communist country, and the misconceptions that people have is that its the exact opposite to capitalism ...... well its not. Communism in theory is the opposite of Capitalism, but in practice its extreme Capitalism. You are either really rich, or poor .... there is no in between. And if you are poor, good luck trying to get out of it. My parents said the only good thing about Communism was that health-care (everything from dental to eye care/glasses) and education (from elementary to Ph.D) were completely free for everyone ..... but the rest was all crap. And you dare not voice your opinion of beliefs about anything, otherwise the police or public would beat the crap out of you. And you could forget about any personal liberties or rights ..... freedom of speech, or requiring warrants did not matter or exist. If the police or military come to your home .... you better let them in and let them search or question you .... if you didnt, they'd beat you, throw you in jail, and then beat you some more in jail.
They left once they were old enough .... as you can see why.

Huh!! What country did they leave if I may ask? From what I remember of Marx wasn't the ideal was that everyone worked for everyone else and nobody specifically owned anything because everybody owned everything together? Each gave what they could give and was given what they needed in return. Though that's only from what I've read forever ago and not in any way based on experience. Though I'm glad they got out of there!!
yeah, by some chance i become a millionaire, im not gonna be some stuck up man being like muh money! you cant have none!!! id prolly give like 100-250k a yr to cancer charities
They came from Serbia (which back then was known as Yugoslavia, which was basically under Soviet rule, until the 90's .... then it fell apart as the USSR fell apart). Since 90's its become a democratic republic, but now suffers from organized crime ruling (and is corrupt to the extreme) .... and has become a more dangerous place. The unspoken rule over there is, if someone kidnaps you, or holds you prisoner you better kill them first before they kill you.
My brother and his wife went there not too long ago to visit some family, and as they we sleeping in their hotel, someone threw a grenade (for the hell of it) right next to the hotel and damaged a few cars. Stuff like that is common-place over there (especially near border areas or areas where illegal immigrants are trying to claim the land or province as theirs).

Yeah, but look at any communist country and all you will see is a extremely rich ruling class, and everyone else is a poor/struggling to survive working class. China is a very good example, so is Cuba.

Interesting. But can we really call them "communist" by the strict definition? Granted the ruling class sucks and is ruthless but technically there shouldn't be any ruling class, right? So despite the years of media mis-representation (no way that's crazy!) They would be more akin to I dunno Dictatorships I guess. Castro< Lenin, Stalin, Mao. Pretty much one guy and everyone else following what he says. I dunno.

communism doesn't work on a national scale, only on smaller, community-level scales.... even then , it takes complete trust and reliability of all members to work, and that is very difficult to find.... technically, I think a family works a little like a communistic unit... Parents provide money and food, kids do the chores and everyone loves one another(well, that used to be the case, not everyone hates each other).....
Schizo, u would have my vote, and who is Bob Barr?? cuz my Worldview teacher's name is Mr. Barr....
